Look For The Hat

We have added a great way for you to locate us at community events. It’s an iconic 11 foot tall beautiful red, white and blue uncle sam hat. After a less than exciting day at the local Scottish Festival where our little canopy just didn’t have the flair it should have, the okay came down to aquire our size 400, patriotic top hat. Be watching for it at Western days and other great community events and know you are in the right place to make your donation to make our fireworks display the best in the state!

It’s a Twin Falls Tradition!

Did you know that the Twin Falls’ patriotic roots run quite deep and the tradition of supporting a celebration for the 4th of July is a part of our history? After some research, local historian Ron Yates made a great discovery. As far back as 1928, local Twin Falls businesses supported the 4th of July Celebrations. As seen in this $10 check from the now defunct Twin Falls Feed & Ice, that was written out in 1928.

The Fourth of July is more than just a day off. It brings together families, friends and the citizens of Twin Falls and the entire Magic Valley to celebrate the birth of our country, our freedom and everything that is great about this wonderful land we live in. It shows our men and women in the military that we support them  and the freedom they are fighting for.

We challenge all of the businesses not only in Twin Falls, but the entire Magic Valley to come together like they did in 1928 and pledge your help to make our celebration something to remember for years to come. Back in 1928 the ten dollars that Twin Falls Feed and Ice donated is worth about $340 today, so keep that in mind when donating. Let’s have historians in 2094 looking back and telling the people here in the valley how patriotic you were.

We are officially at $17,236, and donations are still coming in. Our committee is very proud of our community and the citizens of Twin Falls and the Magic Valley. We are overwhelmed at the time, energy and funds donated so far. All of the funds for the 2010 celebration were raised in a little over a week.

We have a few more events scheduled between now and the 4th of July, so we will be able to move forward with collecting donations for 2011.

How can you help for next year?

Click on the Donate button to the left or donations are being taken at City Hall, Stevens Pierce & Associates, at the Pioneer Club and at Subway in the Twin Stop Chevron.

We currently need $12,000 by June 5 to keep the fireworks show on the 4th of July. Individuals and businesses are invited to contribute to keep the tradition and spirit of this popular community event alive. The fireworks have been part of the celebration annually on Independence Day  for more than 20 years and many want to see this tradition continue for many years to come.  All you have to do is click on “Become a Sponsor Now” to help keep this tradition alive.

History Was Made

Things began at 4am this morning as a small crew of 5 started setting up the first annual 4thf July breakfast fundraiser. By the time dawn hit Ron and Pam Yates, Marv Peirce, Mike and Michael Vanderpool had the griddles churning out pancakes, hashbrowns, scrambled eggs and the Falls Brand ham was being heated in the roasters. Getting off to a slow start and gaining momentum around 8am the breakfast that people said would be impossible to pull off was a reality as dozens stopped by to start their day with a hearty meal.

As patriotic music played over the sound system, Don Hall and his lovely wife managed the “front of house”  while volunteers like Kevin and Debbie Dane handled serving the food and beverages joined by a small team of gloved assistants. In the “back of house” or kitchen area Brian Croner, Peggy Kidd, Pam Yates and a crew of volunteers kept the food on the  front line stocked and fresh. The Girls Scouts were in the house as was a Boy Scout to help with things.

By the end of the breakfast over 350 people had been fed and more than a thousand dollars was raised for next years fireworks.

At 10:17pm the nighttime skies erupted in a grand display of patriotism as the music rang out from the Locally Owned Radio, Canyon 106.5 van. Tonight was an awesome night and this 4th of July will go down as one of the best ever.

Thank you to all the volunteers and everyone that donated to make everything possible. Today we captured a piece of Twin Falls history that will become a tradition all of our children will enjoy for years to come.

The Magic Valley Citizens’ 4th of July Fireworks committee announces the monetary goals have been met
for the 4th of July Fireworks Display to be held on Sunday, July 4th of this year. “The public and several local businesses really stepped up to the plate to make this happen.” said Ruth Pierce, founder of the committee. “All funds were raised in just a little over a week and now we’re moving forward with collecting donations and holding fundraisers for 2011.”  The Magic Valley Citizens’ 4th Of July Fireworks committee was formed after an announcement was made that this year’s fireworks display would be held on Monday, July 5th by another group. Public outcry was expressed on FaceBook and at a meeting before the Twin Falls City Council. At the meeting, members of the public were allowed to voice their concerns and disappointment over having the fireworks display on July 5th. “The response has been overwhelming.”
added Pierce.
The members of Magic Valley Citizens’ 4th of July Fireworks are committed to maintaining a Twin Falls tradition of having the 4th of July Fireworks display on July 4th regardless of which day of the week the 4th of July falls on.
